How to Block & Trust Countries with Astra Firewall

With Astra you can block countries by a click of button. Let’s say you are based out of the UK & have no business in Ukraine but see a lot of traffic from Ukraine – it might be a good idea to block Ukraine as there could be some bots trying to find vulnerabilities in your website from a country where you do not do business.

Block or Trust Country Using Astra

Here’s how you block countries with Astra:

  • Log into your Astra dashboard
  • Open the ‘Threats’ page
  • Reach the section that says ‘Add Custom Rule’
  • Simply type in the country you would like to block and click on the ‘Block’ button
  • You’re done 🙂
  • If in future, you’d like to unblock it you can simply do that by scrolling down to ‘Trusted & Blocked List’ and delete the country by clicking on the delete icon

Here’s how you trust/whitelist countries with Astra:

Let’s say you have a lot of business in one country and you do not want Astra firewall to be running for all users in that country, you can simply whitelist that country by following the steps below:

  • Log into your Astra dashboard
  • Open the ‘Threats’ page
  • Reach the section that says ‘Add Custom Rule’
  • Simply type in the country you would like to trust and click on the ‘Trust’ button
  • You’re done 🙂
  • If in future, you’d like to un-trust it you can simply do that by scrolling down to ‘Trusted & Blocked List’ & delete the country by clicking on the delete icon
