Astra dashboard allows you to block a single IP address or a range of IP address in CIDR format. For example, you can block all IPs from 10.0.0.0 to 10.0.0.255 by entering 10.0.0.0/24 and pressing the Block/Trust button.

Steps involved:

  1. Login to your Astra dashboard
  2. Click on Threats tab.
  3. Add IP address or range of IP address in Add custom rule section.

What is CIDR format?

Classless inter-domain routing (CIDR) is a set of Internet protocol (IP) standards that is used to create unique identifiers for networks and individual devices. CIDR IP addresses consist of two groups of numbers, which are also referred to as groups of bits.

Example of IP range in CIDR format: 192.30.250.00/18

Here, the “192.30.250.0” is the network address itself and the “18” says that the first 18 bits are the network part of the address, leaving the last 14 bits for specific host addresses. If you have range of ip address (start ip address and end ip address), you can convert them into CIDR range using this link.

How to block range on Astra?

After converting to CIDR format, put it into the Add custom rule section. Press block or trust button based on whether you want to block/trust the IP range.
